How Reverse Osmosis Works

As the name suggests, reverse osmosis is the exact opposite of the osmosis process. Instead of absorbing particles from one body to another, it’s about getting small particles out of the water. This is done through a specialized filter system that allows water to travel through but prevents up to 99% of all other particles from passing. Once used for purifying salt water, it has since been discovered to work on a much broader range of contaminants.

This technology is already used in the production of many kinds of bottled water but is not the standard for the drinking water of the majority of homes, leaving many families exposed to a huge range of contaminants and the health dangers they could pose.

5 stage reverse osmosis systems

We install affordable and easy-to-use 5 stage reverse osmosis systems for homeowners in all kinds of homes. These filtration systems fit underneath the sink and work automatically, so you will always have a supply of purified water that’s safe to drink and cook with. The most important of the five stages are as follows:

The sediment filter: The first stage gets rid of all the larger solids in the water, removing anything that’s larger than 5 microns, including sand and metal particles.

The carbon water filter: This stage removes the majority of chemical contaminants, including pesticides, herbicides, and chlorine.

These contaminants are the main cause of any bad odors or tastes present in your drinking water.

The 5-micron filter: This refines the water even more, removing any substances larger than one micron.

The osmotic membrane: This is where the real reverse osmosis happens. Water molecules are much smaller than the majority of contaminants, allowing them to pass through the membrane while others are separated and piped out of the system into the drain.

The inline activated carbon water filter: A final step that is only applied when the faucet of the tank is opened, removing the last of the taste, color, and odor from the water.

The benefits of purified water

Many of the impurities in your drinking water may be extremely unhealthy for you. Home water testing has shown that contaminants like lead, arsenic, copper, and pesticides may be more common in drinking water than you think. Besides the potential health benefits, a water purification system can eliminate the need for bottled water, saving you a lot of money throughout the year. With any added flavors or odors removed, it tastes much better and is much more suitable for cooking, too.

Our 5 stage reverse osmosis systems make water purification simple, affordable, and much more time-efficient. If you want clean drinking water, get in touch today so we can install our system under your sink. The installation process is fast and easy and starts working immediately, so there’s nothing to stop you from enjoying the taste of truly clean water.
